Our client is an innovative engineering and automation business specialising in the design, build, and integration of advanced robotic systems. Following continued growth and several new contracts, they are looking to appoint an experienced Robot Programmer to join their expanding technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented automation professional to take on a hands-on role within a progressive, forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of industrial robotics.

The Role

The Robot Programmer will be responsible for developing, testing, and commissioning robotic systems for a range of manufacturing and automation applications. Working closely with design, electrical, and controls engineers, the successful candidate will ensure all systems are delivered to the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program and commission industrial robots (e.g. ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, UR, Yaskawa, etc.) for automation projects.

  • Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot robot paths, tooling routines, and motion sequences.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate robotic systems with PLCs and other automation equipment.

  • Provide on-site support during installation and commissioning phases (some travel may be required).

  • Modify and refine existing robot programs to enhance efficiency and throughput.

  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with company quality and safety procedures.

  • Deliver training and technical support to operators and maintenance teams when required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience programming and commissioning industrial robots within a manufacturing or automation environment.

  • Competence with at least one major robot brand (ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Universal Robots, etc.).

  • Knowledge of PLC integration and communication protocols (ProfiNet, Ethernet/IP, etc.).

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Flexibility to travel for site-based work when necessary.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with simulation software such as RobotStudio, RoboGuide, or Process Simulate.

  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Mitsubishi).

  • Exposure to applications including welding, palletising, pick-and-place, or machine tending.
